Given just how many editions it checks off every year, it’s really a wonder that Nike is able to find new ground on the Air Force 1. Yet as new seasons bring their own aesthetic demands, Beaverton designers answer the call without fall, utilizing a wide variety of tricks to show consumers something they haven’t seen before.
For the Nike Air Force 1 Low “Phantom” featured here, they’re bringing plenty of new wrinkles into the fold, essentially creating that fresh atmosphere in the aggregate. Embroidered trim circles the Swoosh, tumbled leather closes out inside, and an off-white perforated leather panel hits the quarter, alluding to early 2000s style in the process. Zooming out, a neutral palette of “Phantom,” “Black,” and “College Grey” helps deliver easily wearable overtones, only briefly interrupted by “Team Red” on the tongue tag.
