Tinker Hatfield, Michael Jordan, and Nike wrote the book on product storytelling. A supreme designer, the greatest basketball player of all-time, and the most innovative brand in the world joined its forces to create the most storied run in sneaker design history, coinciding with Michael Jordan’s illustrious career. The Air Jordan 14 is one of the many substantial volumes of the saga; the silhouette was inspired by Michael Jordan’s Ferrari 550 Maranello, which later inspired 2014’s release of the Ferrari 14s.
Unlike any other Air Jordan 14 in history, this edition featured a uniform suede upper, stripping the shoe of its signature stitch lines and panelling. The only remaining detail was the Jumpman logo badge, itself inspired by the Italian supercar’s crest. The mid-sole body kit is wrapped with a carbon fiber exterior to create the high-speed aesthetic, contrasting the luxurious nature of the all-suede upper.
In celebration of the launch, several retailers have gone the extra mile to photograph the shoes with an actual Ferrari. Kicks Lounge got their hands on a set of keys for the Ferrari Testarossa, the iconic exotic that Jordan himself owned at one point.
