The Nike Air Force 1 Takes On “Varsity Red” Anew

Even if Michael Jordan built his ironclad legacy outside of Chicago, it’s likely that red and black would still be a frequent sight within the brand’s catalog. Simply put, it’s one of the more dependable color combinations for apparel, something that helps explain why the Air Max 1 and Air Force 1 Low each did their best “Vamp” impression in 2024, reviving an SB Dunk Low that’s likely lost to time for the younger consumer. Even without those implicit ties, the concept is alive and well, as the Nike Air Force 1 Low in “Black/Varsity Red” showcases.

Depending on how you slice it, this pair offers a simple flip on the tone-on-white layouts we’re used to or a vibrant tweak on the nefarious and notorious “Triple Black.” Either way, the composition remains the same: fire red Swooshes, interior branding, and “Nike Air” hits dot an otherwise entirely nocturnal body. The usual silver lace dubrae offers the only real flash on this pair, fit for rounding out daily fits or accenting more adventurous all-black ones.
