Two (exhausting) global trends are on a collision course. Based on these recently surfaced images, it appears that Nike will be toying with the blind-box vinyl toy craze as part of the upcoming 40th Anniversary celebration of the Dunk Low.
In addition to the half-dozen pairs of Panda Dunks that have been revealed over the last few weeks, this unique version of the style features a boucle-like upper twined with a variety of color styles. One adheres to that classic Panda look in black and white, while the latter achieves a natural mix of olives and browns.
The catch here is that the shoes may potentially be hidden inside a sealed bag, making for a complete blind-box mystery to re-create a bit of that exciting chaos that has overtaken the world of vinyl toys and causing queues at Pop Mart locations across the globe.
This, of course, is hardly the first time a blind-box release was experimented with. Recently, Nike SB hid Friends & Family pairs of the Wizard of Oz Dunks in random shop shipments. HUF dropped a blind box edition of their SB Dunk Lows. Even Jordan Brand once got in on the trend, replicate the baseball card experience with the Air Jordan 9 “Baseball Glove”.
